The Happy hour eats at Matador on NW 23rd are really quite good! The free chips and salsa are always a great way to start off your visit, we always ask for refill on both chips and salsa The guacamole came first and was super fast, with two different kinds of salsa on the side - one of them was extremely spicy, so proceed with caution. I had three street tacos, two beef and one chorizo. They were small but really flavorful, and were even better when dipped in the guacamole. The carnitas quesadilla was really, really tasty. It comes with a side of crema and they don't skimp on the meat. I think the outstanding dish of the evening was definitely the bean dip. It's just smooth with just the right hint of spice, with crema on top. We didn't have any drinks, but just the eats were totally worth it! The service at this location is always excellent and Ben was top notch
Went on a Sunday night for happy hour had fish tacos which was amazing also the fried Taco they were delicious the table also order beef nachos, taco salad both were delicious also had the fried ice cream very tasty
Who knew the best part of a Mexican restaurant would be a Vietnamese bartender? My guy Nam serves margaritas so smooth you'd think they were hand-blessed by the tequila gods themselves. His banter is sharper than the lime wedges, and he shakes a cocktail like he's auditioning for a mixology Olympics. Not sure if it's his secret Vietnamese touch or just raw talent, but every drink has a little bit of magic in it. You'll leave wondering if you came for tacos or therapy (hint: it's both). If you're not ordering from Nam you're doing it wrong. 10/10 would come back for the margaritas and questionable life advice. Cheers! (Pro tip: get him talking about MSG)
Stopped by for happy hour. Fun ambiance and attentive staff. The chips and salsa were delicious. The fried tacos (comes with two) and sauce it comes with is a must try!
Was recommended this place and I see why! Vibes and a great happy hour was the win! The margaritas were delish and came in a tall glass so another win The service was attentive and personable and we definitely enjoyed our Taco Tuesday!
The ambiance was great. We were there in the evening and the lighting was moody which seems to make it easier to enjoy your drink. The service was amazing, the staff was super attentive and everything came out quickly. The food...for the starter we had Brussels and they were a 9/10 so good. Bf had the habanero enchiladas 8/10 because he should have ordered something milder lol I had the ribeye tacos and they were not my favorite. 4/10. They were pretty dry and I was expecting the meat to be juicy since it was pricy for two tacos. Way too much crunchy onion topping. Overall, would come back for drinks and gossip.
